I’m a BHS qualified freelance riding instructor based near Royston in Hertfordshire, covering Cambs, Herts, Beds and Essex.

I coach private clients and for riding schools, riding clubs and pony clubs in the area. I also offer schooling and dressage judging services.

Using a professional and fun approach to coaching and schooling, I believe in consistent, long-term development of both horses and riders.

Dressage

I use the Scales of Training as the basis for all my flatwork coaching and horse training. This allows me to follow a logical progression when teaching and riding.

As an experienced dressage competitor and judge, I can also advise on ring craft, and how to show off yourself and your horse to best effect for the judges.

Jumping

When coaching jumping, I focus on developing a highly secure and balanced position in the rider in the first instance.

From that point, the rider is able to begin positively influencing the horse where necessary. I encourage riders to develop a feel for a good rhythm and the appropriate quality in the canter, whether tackling show jumps or a cross country round.

Jumping is inherently riskier than riding on the flat, but I am committed to providing as safe an environment as possible.

BHS Intermediate Teaching Certificate/Stage 4 Senior Coaching Eventing

BHS Intermediate Stable Manager/Stage 4 Senior Care, Management and Lunge

BHS Assistant Instructor/Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship

PGCE (PCE) specialising in the Equine Sector

BSc (Hons) Microbiology from The University of Manchester
